Russian visa

Visa issuance and validity are decided solely by the competent authority. Fees cover application processing and are non-refundable once processing or third-party costs have begun. No refunds or price adjustments apply if a visa is refused or issued for a shorter period than requested.

Travel to Russia, status 18.9.2026. The land border between Finland and Russia is closed until further notice, so travel is by air via a third country or through Estonia on foot at the Narva crossing. The Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs advises against all travel to Russia. The travel decision is yours. A visa does not open a closed border.

Russian visa from Helsinki. We handle the visa from start to finish: single- and double-entry tourist visas, the six-month multiple-entry tourist visa and business visas. We complete the application on the form the consulate requires, check the passport and attachments, obtain the tourist confirmation and lodge the application at the consular section for you. The consulate accepts no postal applications and no walk-ins. Through us you never need to visit the consulate. Single- and double-entry visas are ready in about 10 days, multiple-entry visas in about 2.5 weeks. The price includes the consular fee and the tourist confirmation. Authority fees are itemised on your order as a separate line. The travel insurance the visa requires and a visa photo can be added to the same order. Bring your passport to Tehtaankatu 12 or send it by post.

Longer business visas and private visas. A business visa longer than one year needs the consulate's prior approval, and a private visa to visit relatives is made on an invitation issued through the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. Contact the office before ordering these.

Electronic visa. Finnish citizens can apply for Russia's unified e-visa themselves on the Russian MFA portal for a single trip of up to 30 days. Rustravel does not handle e-visas. A regular visa is needed for stays over 30 days, two or more entries, work or study, or a passport of a country outside the e-visa list. The consulate does not issue a visa to anyone who also holds Russian citizenship: travel is on the Russian passport.

The final decision to issue or refuse a visa rests exclusively with the embassy, consulate, or competent authority of the destination country. Rustravel cannot guarantee that a visa will be issued.
