    You get the link after ordering. One form is filled in for each traveller.

  2. Deliver your passport

    Bring your passport to our office at Tehtaankatu 12 or send it by post.

  3. We handle the application

    We check the attachments and submit the application to the consulate.

  4. Get your passport back

    We let you know when your passport is ready. Collect it at the office, or have it returned by Matkahuolto (15 €) or Pikakirje express letter (35 €).

The border crossings between Finland and Russia are closed. You can travel to Russia through Estonia or Turkey. Check the travel advisory at um.fi.

How long is the visa valid and how long can I stay in Russia?
A single-entry visa allows a stay of up to 30 days and a double-entry visa up to 90 days. The six-month multiple-entry visa allows up to 90 days in any 180. The visa is issued for the dates given in the application: a single-entry visa is not 30 days at a time of your choosing within six months.
How long does it take to get the visa?
Usually about 10 days for a single- or double-entry visa and about 2.5 weeks for a multiple-entry visa once we have all the documents. Postage is not included in that time, and the consulate may take longer. We do not currently offer express processing, so apply in good time.
Is the consular fee included in the price?
Yes. The visa price includes the consular fee, the tourist confirmation and our service fee.
Can I travel to Russia overland from Finland?
No. The land border between Finland and Russia is closed until further notice by Government decision, passenger traffic included. Travel is by air via a third country or through Estonia. The Narva crossing is open to pedestrians only, and the Estonian side keeps limited opening hours. Check the situation before you travel.
I am not a Finnish citizen. Can I apply through you?
Yes, if you live in Finland. The consulate asks EU citizens for no extra documents, and a tourist visa costs 155 € (single-entry), 275 € (double-entry) or 635 € (multiple-entry 6 months). Citizens of other countries need their Finnish residence permit card, US citizens do not, and the price depends on nationality, so ask the office before ordering.
I also hold Russian citizenship. Can I get a visa?
No. The consulate does not issue a visa into a Finnish passport for a person who also holds Russian citizenship. Travel to Russia is then on the Russian passport.
Does a child need a visa of their own?
Yes. For a child under 14 the application also needs a parent's consent to the visa application and a copy of the passport of the parent who signs it. One parent's signature is usually enough, and the consent does not need to be notarised. If the child's surname differs from the parents', a copy of the birth certificate is needed as well.
Do you handle private visas to visit relatives?
Yes, when you have an invitation issued through the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs. A private visa costs 130 € for one entry and 205 € for two. The price includes the consular fee. Contact the office, this visa is not ordered through the online form.
Can I get a 2, 3 or 4-year business visa for Russia?
For longer business visas, please contact our office. The one-year multiple-entry business visa is also ordered through the office, not the online shop.
How do I get my passport to you and back?
Bring the passport to the office at Tehtaankatu 12 or send it by post. Collect the finished passport at the office or order return delivery: Matkahuolto 15 € or express letter 35 €.
What is the electronic visa, and do you handle it?
Russia's unified e-visa is something a Finnish citizen applies for on the Russian MFA portal for a single trip of up to 30 days. Rustravel does not handle e-visas.
What if the visa is refused?
The consulate decides. Fees are not refunded if the visa is refused or issued for a shorter period than requested. We check the application carefully precisely because of this risk.
