Updated 18.10.2026. In short: a single-entry visa allows a stay in Russia of up to 30 days, a double-entry visa up to 90 days, and the six-month multiple-entry visa up to 90 days in any 180. The visa is issued for the dates given in the application. The most common misunderstanding is that the 30 days of a single-entry visa can be used freely within six months. That is not the case.

What is the difference between validity and length of stay?
Validity is the period within which you may enter Russia and must leave it. Length of stay says how many days you may spend in the country. The visa carries a start date and an end date: you cannot enter before the start date, and you must leave by the end date at the latest.
Can I use the 30 days of a single-entry visa at any time within six months?
No. A single-entry visa is issued for the travel dates given in the application, for up to 30 days. If your trip moves so that the dates no longer fall within the visa's validity, you need a new visa. So give your travel dates carefully and allow a little margin if needed.
When does a double-entry visa make sense?
When you make two trips within a short time, or leave Russia in the middle of your trip and come back. A single-entry visa ends when you leave the country, even if days remain.
How are the 90 days of a multiple-entry visa counted?
With a multiple-entry visa you can travel as often as you like, but your days in the country may add up to at most 90 in any period of 180 days. Count the days in advance if you plan several trips.
What about a business visa longer than one year?
A business visa longer than one year needs the consulate's prior approval. We send the consulate copies of your previous visas and border stamps, and the consulate confirms which visa you can get. Contact us before ordering.
What about the electronic visa?
A Finnish citizen can apply for Russia's e-visa on the Russian MFA portal for a single trip of up to 30 days. Rustravel does not handle e-visas. A longer stay or more entries need a regular visa.
